"The Internet Evangelism Coalition is important because it serves as a catalyst for Christian ministries to use the meduim of the day to further advance the Gospel. It helps us share what we learn about this medium with otyhers so they do not need to 'reinvent the wheel' and therefore serve as better stewards of resources"

Stimulating and accelerating web evangelism within the worldwide Body of Christ

Merry Christmas from all of us at the Internet Evangelism Coalition! May the Lord bless you, your family and ministry during this joyous Christmas season.
MEETfish.com
From the American Tract Society   MEETfish
On November 15, 2006, MEETfish.com entered the online social network waters. MEETfish.com allows users to post pictures, meet new friends, play music and introduce themselves to the world. There are several notable differences that separate MEETfish.com from "the rest of the fish in the sea."
  1. MEETfish.com is committed to providing a safer, family friendly environment for all to gather.
  2. MEETfish.com is a project of EvangeNet, a subsidiary of the American Tract Society (ATS). (ATS is one of the nation’s oldest evangelistic communication ministries, producing over a billion gospel tracts since 1825.)
  3. MEETfish.com is creating alliances with many other Christian churches, groups, radio stations, universities and para-church ministries.
EvangeNet manager Connie LeFlore reports, “While other online social networks, Christian or not, seem to want to do their own thing, MEETfish.com is different. Our goal is to truly bring the body of Christ together through the Internet. This is the mission field of our day. MEETfish.com opens the doors for believers to share their faith to the whole world in a non-offensive way.”

Through MEETfish.com, other Christian organizations (MEETfish Alliance Members) will be able to share ministry needs, goals and news with their members all “under one roof.” These MEETfish Alliance Members will also be able to receive constant feedback and pertinent information from their users.

For more information, visit www.meetfish.com, or email info@meetfish.com. To learn more about becoming a MEETfish Alliance Member go to http://www.evang e-net.com/alliance/flash/index.html.

"On Faith"

  On Faith
Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive, an award-winning publisher of online news and information, has introduced “OnFaith.” Moderated by Washington Post writer Sally Quinn and Newsweek Editor Jon Meacham, “OnFaith” will bring together diverse leaders from around the world.

Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive says “OnFaith” will “encourage intelligent and respectful conversations on religion and faith.” Some 50 leaders have agreed to participate including:

  • Desmond Tutu, Anglican Archbishop and Nobel Prize winner
  • Mohammad Khatami, former president of Iran
  • Elie Wiesel, Jewish activist and Nobel Prize Winner
  • Luis Palau, evangelist and author
  • Sam Harris, Atheist philosopher
  • Rick Warren, pastor and author
  • Akbar Ahmed, professor and former Pakistani ambassador to the United Kingdom
  • Cal Thomas, columnist and journalist
At least once a week, Quinn and Meacham will pose questions to the panel of contributors. The questions, and responses from contributors around the world, are posted at http://newsweek.washingtonpost.com/onfaith. Topics range from the nature of evil, to the morality of fetal stem-cell research, to how to raise kids in multi-faith households.
Mobile Christian Content

  Mobile Word
Messages from Southern California pastor and evangelist Greg Laurie are now available for viewing through mobile phone technology. Unity in Values, a Christian mobile content provider, recently launched the first-ever mobile channel to provide young Christians with entertaining and relevant faith content and Laurie is among the initial group of pastors whose messages are featured in three- minute bites.

Called The Mobile Word ( www.themobileword.com), the youth-oriented Christian BREW (Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless) application is available across North America through Alltel Wireless. The Mobile Word currently features four “mini-messages” from Laurie and Harvest Ministries that will be refreshed monthly, as well as content from other pastors.

Harvest technology director Paul Eaton is excited about the possibilities the new Mobile Word content will provide. “There are 200 million cell phone users in the U.S., and a large percentage of the U.S. population identifies themselves as Christians, so this tells us there is a huge audience of people that will be encouraged by the messages of faith available through mobile technology,” says Eaton.

Greg Laurie is senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California, one of the 15 largest churches in the U.S., and is founder of the Harvest Crusades, large-scale evangelistic events that have drawn more than 3.4 million people to arenas and stadiums in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand since 1990.
